Default AF found me/Clomid question...

Well, AF found me and now I'm on cd 3. Even with the progesterone I still only got an 11 day lp. I was dissappointed.

To make matters worse, the day AF came my temp went up quite alot. I tested with an FRE and got one of those false positives that dissappear within hours. The line was light, but very visible and pink in color. But after the first hour it started growing fainter and by four hours later it was completely gone. By that time AF had shown up in full force after I spotted for two days.

I'm going to use the vitex and pro-gest again this cycle, but if it doesn't work I'm thinking of using clomid next time around. I've read it has some bad side effects. Has anyone here tried it? What did it do to you? Just wondering what might happen if I go this route.

Thanks!

The thing with vitex, is that it can take up to three months to finally balance you out. It becomes a game of patience.

If I may make a suggestion (and keep in mind that I'm being a hypocrite): If you could get femara instead of clomid, I'd think you'd fair better.

Clomid has detrimental effects on our estrogen levels. so even though we get more follies, we may suffer a bad lining (and it may affect your CM as well since that's linked to estrogen). Femara has the same pluses but not the negatives. If I had it to do over again, I would do Femara. Just a thought.

I'm sorry she showed up, but sounds like you're on the attack!

Thanks, Dee, for the advice. I don't know if femara is going to be an option for me, but I will look into it before I take the clomid. My main problem is that I can't afford the doctor visit to ask him about it since I have no insurance.

This is just a hard decision for me. I really don't want to take the clomid, but I really want a baby and I don't know if I can conceive without some help. I wish my doctor were more understanding but he's angry with me for having my last baby at home without him. I found another doctor I like but he's even more expensive.

Dh and I agreed that we can't afford any kind of intervention and neither of us want that. So, it may be clomid or nothing for me.

Kim: Thanks! I hope so too!

I was a total b*tch on clomid but not on femora. Plus it was cheaper. I know what you mean about not being able to afford the 'help'. Just 6 months of drs visits, a lap, multiple US, and the 3 IUIs left us with over $2000 to pay off. We decided after 3 failed IUIs to go the adoption route. The emotional & monetary costs are much easier to handle.
