Icon9 Worried

Anyone with thyroid issues? I went to the healthfair and had a TSH (thyroid test) done last week. I have had normal results over the past year, but they have been low normal. I have never been diagnosed with a thyroid problem before. So, I absolutely freaked out when I got the results Tues. night. My level was .01 and the normal range is 0.4-4.0, so mine are extremely low which makes me hyperthyroid. I went to the Dr and he ran more bloodwork and ordered a U/S which came back yesterday with a nodule and a cyst on or near my thyroid. The nodule is not yet big enough to biopsy so I just have to wait and make sure that two of the more important blood tests come back in normal range. If not I will have to start meds. I just hate waiting for the rest of the blood test results because there is an increased risk of miscarriage when your level is out of whack. Im worried about this baby and Im worried that I have to wait until I deliver to find out if this nodule is benign or not. I hate worrying. Thanks for letting me vent.

I'm the opposite side my numbers were borderline high and my RE put me on synthroid which I haven't had any side effects from and have been told is safe in pregnancy. I'm not sure what you get for hyper . . .

I would try to look at the positive side you may not know anything about this if you haven't gone to the healthfair and it could actually be the pregnancy that is making your numbers out of whack. The likeihood is the nodule is benign is very very high! I'm sure your doc will have good solutions for you and its just another minor obstacle that you will overcome.

I'm hypothyroid. Thyroid issues are very treatable! Over 99% of nodules are not cancer. Nodules are very common.

There's a PTU med that is used during pregnancy. I have a friend who was pregnant while treated for hyperthyroidism.

I'm sorry you have this to worry about!
