Real quick, girls...I'm at home for a just a few minutes. I have to go get my staples removed and then I'm back to the hospital.

Owen is doing better. They are thinking he was sick because I ended up having toxemia or my placenta was infected. Since the placenta was infected, he didn't grow as big as he should have and his platelet count has been affected. They have tested him for every virus known to man and everything else...we are now dealing with hematololgy. I've got some issues with the hospital as they are a "teaching" hospital and there are several residents and staff that I don't like.

I'm still not bf'ing...they won't take the time for him to learn. (I've called the lacatation nurse at the hospital where I delievered and she's gonna work with me when Owen comes home and as long as I'm pumping and giving him the breast milk that's what is important for now)The nurses have him on a schedule of vitals, changing diapers, and eating. He was up to 38ml and then they stuck him with an IV of sugar water and now he won't eat the full capasisty. I ended up arguing with the staff to not put in a feeding tube as one Dr. insisted that he ate the whole feeding and if he didn't they'll tube him. I got that order changed yesterday that he has to eat the minumum of 25ml before tubing. They need to give him a break...I know they are trying to make him gain weight but it's hard.

Hopefully I will know something more later this evening on the next step. Thanks for all your and thinking of us...just keep those coming...we need all we can get right now.

Oh Kelli - thats tough when you don't like the providers and you are kinda stuck with them. You just keep fighting for what you know is right for Owen! I hope he gains enough weight to at least be transfer somewhere more in line with your wishes or better yet HOME! How is Isaiah doing? Sending you more well wishes!

Kelli-Fight with those dr's if you have to! You are Owen's mom and you have a say in his care. *don't let me come down there, those dr's won't like me too much-I'll give them a piece of my mind!* You as a mommy knows what your son needs, dr's don't always know like us parents. I am shocked they won't give Owen a chance at feeding before giving him the tube feeds. I will keep both of you in our prayers.

Hi Kelli, I haven't been around the past week but wanted to log on and say that I you are in my prayers Sweetie. I am hoping that Owen continues to improve. Keep fighting for what you think is best with him. You've gone through too much to get to this point to have him be a guinea pig.
