Wow, I have not been here in about 2+ months. So sorry. I can't believe that the site has changed. I finally can post today as the boys are with a friend of ours for the weekend. Dh and I don't know what to do with ourselves. As time to ourselves is such a rare occurrence. But I am sure we will find something to do
I have missed this place. I feel like so much has happened and I haven't been able to share them or to share in your experiences. I do feel terrible about that. But I have to be honest; it has been challenging trying to be Mom, wife and career woman. I am still getting trying to get used to all three roles. Still trying to figure things out, so in the interim, I have had to let some things take a short term backseat, like visiting the forums. It sounds terrible right? But it's a new year and I have told myself that I have got to get better organized so that I can do some of the things that I like, like coming to SK. So with that said, I'll be visiting more, but I can't promise that I'll post daily. I'll need to work my way to that.
I'll be reading through the posts to get up to speed with everyone.
Let me give you an update on my munchkins. They are 5 months as of the Jan 10th. At their 4 month checkup they were both 25 inches, Isaiah weighed 13lbs10oz and Evan was 13lbs. They have been introduced to solids, at first with rice cereal, now they are on to the stage 1 foods. They love sweet potatoes and carrots, but don't seem to be the biggest fans of peas. Evan will eat everything you give him but Isaiah is a bit pickier.
Isaiah is rolling over like a champ from his back to his belly. Evan is rolling from his belly to his back (but I have not witnessed this [sad, I know]) Dh has seen it.
Evan loves to giggle and it is the funniest thing to watch him do it. Isaiah is more serious; he smiles but just giggled for the first time this week.
They are both holding their bottles but sometimes get a little lazy and want us to hold it.
Hmm, is this the start of some of that typical male behavior?
As for sleeping through the night, they aren’t doing it consistently. Also, our definition of “sleeping through the night” might be a little different. They tend to fall asleep early, as soon as it gets dark. So they could be asleep by 6pm. They’ll sleep until about midnight, then get up about every 3-4 hours after that. If I go to bed around 11pm or so and they are up at midnight, then you can see why I won’t think they aren’t “sleeping through the night”. But then there are times, when it does not matter what times they fall asleep, they get up religiously every 3-4 hours to eat. The pediatrician wants me to give them their last feeding at 10pm, then their next feeding will be at 6am. This she says will be training them to sleep for longer periods of time and learning that they can’t eat every 3-4 hours. Well, I can tell you that I have not followed that advice. I basically let the boys tell me when they are hungry. But, I am not sure that’s working for me either.
At any rate, the boys are doing well. I am enjoying being a mother and Dh is in love with his boys.
I now need to go tackle this mess I call a house. There is so much to be done. I think I am going to start an early spring cleaning.
That’s my update. It’s a beautiful Saturday and I hope you all have a great weekend.
