Default Blood Test Question

Hi everyone,

I hope you can clarify something for me because right now I am a little confused. I went in the other day to try and get the doctor to give me something for my bronchutis. They wanted to do x-rays just in case but before I could do the x-rays they wanted to see whether I was pregnant. Which is fine but it was too early I think. I don't chart (I know I need to start) so I don't know exactly when I ovulated but I believe it was on Sunday.

My question is...if I get a blood test done on Tuesday when I just ovulated on Sunday is it possible for a blood test to really be able to tell me that I am pregnant? I thought it might take 7-10 days after ovulation for it to come up. My test came back negative so I am kind of bummed but I really am hoping that they tested too early and that there is a chance of being pregnant still. The technician said that the test was accurate even that early.

Anyway...what do you think? Thanks!

Stacey

Implantation that early is highly unlikely, although I'm sure there are instances of it. I'd think that 3 days would be the earliest and still pretty unlikely.

If you sounded unsure, I'm sure that's why they wanted the test. Are you getting the x-ray?

I need to put a disclaimer on those comments. I recall reading something about 3 days, but that was many years ago. I also used vague terms instead of all or never.

With my experiece from ivf and understanding of embryonic development, 5-6 days would be the earliest and the average is about 6-12 days.

Maybe they've had a situation where someone thought they knew their cycles, but ended up pg and not knowing.

Hope you are feeling better.

I agree with what Nancy said, i think it is too early. Did you get the X-ray?

Hi,

Thanks for the responses. I think it was too early also. I did end up getting the x-ray done which has me a little worried if I do end up pregnant. I looked on line and there were some sites that said having x-rays done once shouldn't be a problem. They are more worried about someone being exposed to x-ray on numerous occasions. Either way, I don't feel that happy with getting it done but I needed to be checked out because the bronchitus has been with me for over a month.

I'll keep you posted on whether I get a BFP this month. I should be able to take a test at the end of next week.
