Anyone else ttc with irregular cycles?
Hi ladies...when I start to ttc next month after getting my IUD out, I don't plan on charting, using kits, etc., only because I don't get regular periods. They're sporadic and random (and rare). They've been like this since way before I got my IUD. I was wondering if anyone else had irregular periods and what ways you use to know when and if you O?
I should add that when I got pregnant the first time, it was a shocker, because we actually weren't actively trying at that time! We tried for a few months normally, then three months on Clomid, and nothing. Because it had become so emotionally exhausting, we took a break from ttc completely and just forgot about it. I was starting to think I really couldn't get pregnant and that I didn't ovulate normally as a result of my irregular periods. When we weren't trying or thinking about it is when we finally conceived

Re: Anyone else ttc with irregular cycles?
i have pretty regular cycles, but know lots of ladies with irregular cycles. Typically, it's from a lack of ovulation, intern, horomones not being released.
Could be from intermitent cycsts too.
I see you were on clomid, but have you had bloodwork done throughout a "cycle"? They can see if you have the right measures of horomones.
OK, maybe I'm no help.

Re: Anyone else ttc with irregular cycles?
I was anovulatory all my life, but my endocrinologist put me on the right meds and I ovulated regularly. My BFP was a natural cycle. I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Re: Anyone else ttc with irregular cycles?
hello! yes, i realize i'm not "30-something" but when i was scrolling down to my usual board, yours was the latest post and when i saw the irregular cycle question, i felt compelled to answer you. my name is brynn, and this past september i was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (pcos). the only symptoms i have are irregular cycles and some (unwanted) facial hair. i do not have a lot of the common symptoms (overweight, insulin resistance, etc), but i just knew something was up. my doc did simple b/w and it came back with elevated hormone levels that indicate pcos. i never had a regular cycle, and was put on bcp's to regulate it. i now am taking clomid, and i have been ovulating with that.
the point of my story is this: you should consider having b/w done. ask your doc about pcos, even if you don't show outward symptoms. there are a lot of things that can be done for women with pcos, and it could make your ttc journey much shorter. i didn't tell you all this to freak you out, and i REALLY hope i didn't. i just want to make you aware of a possible explanation for your irregular cycles. you may not have it, which would be great, but if you do, your doc can form a plan that's right for you to get your baby! and, if you do have it, the pcos board here is wonderful. i post there very regularly. if you have questions about it, post there and you'll get answers!
good luck with ttc!! baby dust to you.

Re: Anyone else ttc with irregular cycles?
I have pcos. Glucophage and Actos gave me regular cycles. The combination was the key!!!!!

Re: Anyone else ttc with irregular cycles?
Thanks guys. At my March appointment, when I'm going to have my pap and IUD removed, I'm going to ask about PCOS too. I thought I might have it before, not only because of my irregular cycles but because I definitely have unwanted facial hair (gross I know) And also I know I've gotten cysts on my ovary (I had one removed). I really don't have some of the other symptoms so I kind of forgot about it.

Re: Anyone else ttc with irregular cycles?
I have always had normal cycles, but know women who do have long irregular cycles that are usually caused by PCOS. I hope you get some answers and wish you lots of luck when you get your IUD out and start TTC.
