Well, saw the surgeon Monday, he’s the one that will be performing the procedure. He checked my blisters, one had popped last Sat, so I put some neosporin on it. And the other big one was still intact. He popped those & removed the dead skin. He said they both have new skin growth, so I could have surgery next week. Then he put some antibiotic stuff on the blisters so that they would finish healing while I wait until surgery.
Then he explained the procedure to us. I actually broke 3 bones, so what has to be done is screws need to be put into my ankle to hold it together. Then I have to have a metal plate screwed into my fibula bone (outer leg bone) to hold it in place. Then I have to have a temporary screw going from the fubula bone to the tibila (inner leg bone) to allow the ligaments to heal properly, so my leg heals strong. That temporary screw comes out in 3 months.
I will then be in a cast for 8 weeks after surgery to allow my ankle to heal & then I will spend 4 weeks (hopefully less), learning to walk again. I have a pre op appt tomorrow at 9:40 am, and my surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, I have to be there at 1:45. It’s an in & out procedure.
I am so nervous! The only time I’ve ever had surgery was when I was 8-10, can’t remember & I had tubes put in my ears and my adenoids removed. I hope that I get a popsicle afterwards! LOL Just playing
Will keep everyone updated as the time goes by, thanks for all the support! You guys are awesome
