hi everyone

my name is sara and my husband is james we are ttc our first baby

at the moment i am in the 2ww we have 4 days before the 14 day mark and i was wondering how soon can i start to poas this whole tww is killing me! and i was also wondering how soon did your bfp or bfn show up on your hpt

It all depends upon how sensitive the HPT is and how quickly urine contains HCG. Some tests (First Response, Answer Early Result, internet cheapies, etc.) say that you can test up to 5 days before your missed period. Yet, if you look closely, the statistics for testing that early are really low. It's best to wait until you miss your period. However, if you can't wait, try one of those sensitive tests.

Some ladies you'll ask got their BFP 9dpo-18dpo and sometimes later. I got my first BFP around 12dpo-13dpo.

The ones that advertise up to five days before missed period and 99% accuracy have the cute the * next to the claims. The 99% accuracy is only after you missed your period, the accuracy at 5 days before is about 40%.

You get a positive HPT after one specific hormone is released, that hormone isn't released until after the fertilized egg implant. The fertilized egg implants at about 7-10dpo. AAt the very least, wait until 11 or 12 dpo to begin testing.

Then again, this advice is being given by a confessed POAS a holic who has tested at 9dpo

As you can see by my ticker I am 16dpo and have not tested yet, one reason is because I am not too certain of my O date, the other is that I have seen 1 too many bfn's since January!!! I am holding out as long as possible! But everyone is different, when I first started TTC I tested at 8dpo!!!! Crazy! My Lp's are 14-16 days, so over my cys I have decided to wait. Good Luck! I would wait until at least 12dpo. I waited this last cycle, not that it did any good, but I didn't feel as anxious after seeing an early BFN. Good luck.
