We have two dogs on a trial basis from the Second Chance Shelter. They are sisters (which you won't believe when you see them) and they seem to be great. Adelaide seems to be adjusting well, but Zede (Zeedee) doesn't seem as relaxed. We have them for a week or so to see if they like it here and if we like them here. What do you think? They are about a year old. They are bigger than what I was looking for, but DH is already in love with them. They are medium sized - Adelaide is about the size of a beagle and Zede is a little bigger.

I can't see their pics. We had two labs when I got pg with our daughter. One we have had since she was a puppy and the other was a rescue dog that we got when he was about 2 or so. You never really know how old rescue dogs are.

Anyway the rescue dog was always a little scared and ended up almost biting my daughter when she was learning to crawl. He basically mouthed her head. That was enough for me though. He now lives at my parent's house.

I know that you want a baby so just make sure any pet that you bring into the house you would trust. It was really stressful here when my rescue dog was here. I was forever keeping him away from the baby and worried about where he was. I don't have that worry with our purebred dog. Emma crawls and climbs all over her like crazy.

Thanks for the advice, Jen. Neither DH or I are real sure about Zede. Adelaide is a great little girl though. I think Zede may be going back...she seems too nervous and anxious. She's a great girl but I think she needs a home where someone is home all the time.
