Default OT: fantastic book recommendation

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...books&n=507846

I read the UK version today, cover to cover. Its brilliant. Before reading it, I would have said I was a good wife... after reading it, I can see all the things I could do to ACTUALLY be a good wife. what an eye opener!

Has anyone else read this? Or do you have any good book recommendations?

Hey Crystal... I keep hearing about that book, but I just can't bring myself to read it. For some reason it just seems sooooo sexist to me. Maybe that's just because I haven't read it. Do you stay at home, or work away from home? I'm just wondering because it seems the book was written more for stay at home wives/moms, which I would LOVE to be. Tell me some more about it, and why a working wife should read it.

Oh that book sounds good. Know you got me wanting to get and read it.

I do work outside the house and I know that I'm not the best/perfect wife. There just aren't enough hours in one day. KWIM? The thing that matters is that I do try and DH is very good about helping me out around the house. If I could improve I would atleast try to.

I'll admit, it's biased towards women who have the opportunity to stay at home. But, I dont believe it's sesit. Most of it talks about how societies attitudes towards the role of men and women have changed and whether or not that is a good thing. I was always of the opinion anyhow that womens lib has gone too far, that its tried to shut out the differences between men and women when we should celebrate them. The reason I would recommend you reading it isnt to change your opinions, or make you do things you dont want to, but because I thought you might find it interesting.
The reason i believe a working wife should read it is already stated- working or not, you are still a wife, and I cant think of many wives who wouldnt want to make their husbands happier. But as I said, your choice

I am a stay at home wife, but not in quite the same way. My husband is disabled due to severe mental health issues, and I am his carer.

I wasnt trying to cause any conflicts

Hey Crystal... Thanks for not being offended. I've been on other message boards where they recommend this book but then get all offended and defensive when you ask why you should read it. Now that you've given me a little more insite to the books contents I might just read it.

the basics of it (in my opinion) were to treat your husband like the man he is, and make the effort for him as much as you'd want it made for you.

If anyone reads it, I'd love to hear your input
