I went to the doctor about a month a go, and I found out that I need to lose almost 50 lbs. Because of my age (35), we would really like to stop having babies by the time I'm 40. So, we have decided to begin.

So, has anyone had TTC problems while loosing weight? Is it even a good idea?

Any advice you'd like to give would be great!!

I'm not trying to lose weight, but with a medical background, i understand where your dr is coming from on wanting you to lose the weight before ttc. The extra weight while pregnant is harder on your body and puts you at a higher risk for gestional diabeties, high blood pressure, preeclampisia, etc. he is also probably more worried because you are considered ama(advanced maternal age). I used to work for an obgyn and the dr. used to advise his patient to lose the weight while ttc was perfectly healthy for them. althought, i'm not giving medical advice. you can put a call in to your dr and ask in his opinion is it safe for you to ttc while losing weight. Hope you successfully lose the weight and you get your bfp for baby#5!

Another question....

I'm currently on the inductioin stage of the South Beach Diet, and am I allowed to continue that? I've lots 8 lbs already, and so would that make a difference for my cycles?

That's a good question. I'm not to familar with the south beach diet. I would give my dr a call if i were you and get clerification on anything and everything relating to ttc & dieting and see what he has to say.

I think you could still do South Beach while TTC... just make sure you're also taking a prenatal or multivitamin as well as folic acid.

I was loosing weight all last year while TTC and going through miscarriages. I lost 20 in all before getting pg. I just exercised daily & ate well.

Well I end up calling my OB, and she told me that, I could do South Beach, but that I couldn't not be on the Induction phase. So, I'm going to go to stage #2, and continue with that along with exercising.

Glad that you calle dyour ob & at least now you now it is afe to do south beach! Hope you continue losing weight and get your bfp!
