Icon11 New At This...

Hello I am new at this message board/bloggin thing, so forgive me if I make a faux pas.
My husband and I are t he proud parents of a healthy 5 year old boy who was a bit of a suprise to us!!!! I actually conceived while I was on birth control. So when we decided we were ready for another i decided to go see a doctor since it had been about a year since I had my last period, i have never had what you would call a regular cycle. So through ultra sounds and blood work it was found nothing was wrong. So we decided to wait a little bit and see if my period just showed up. Well no luck , so needless to say no baby. So i went back again and had the tests done again , and everything was fine. So my Dr. Decided to put me on Clomid to jump start my period/ovulation. I have just started it (4 days in) and I am just wondering about any long term effects of the drug. I have asked a lot of questions and done a lot of research but I would just like to get feedback from those in a similar situation. My husband has some concerns about it from the medical standpoint (he is a paramedic), he is concerned with birth defects, high risk pregnancy, the risks there are with multiples, which is a chance with fertility drugs. From what I have found there are very very few birth defect associated with clomid, if any that have been directly linked to it, but as far asthe high risk pregnancy I am not sure. Is there more of a chance if you conceive while on Clomid? I am just nervous I guess, i dfon't want a dangerous or high risk pregnancy, not for the baby's sake or mine, I do have one child that needs me here!!!
So any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!
Thank you so much

I have not been on clomid, but I have researched it on wikipedia and it seems there are no effects directly linked to it. But I am no expert. Hope you find out what you need to know, maybe you should check it out on the FDA website.

Hello I'm new here also. However, I have recently completed my round of Clomid and the only side effect I've had so far is extreme headaches and I went to the doctor today and found out I have total of five eggs forming between both of my ovaries (kind of scary). Our first son is seven soon to be eight in Sept. I recently had a miscarriage in June (the reason) my doctor placed me on the meds. However, I understand your concern, as for, I am quite nervous now that I have five eggs developing. I've done a lot a research and most of the data I've read states that more then likely only one egg will meet the size required for fertilization 18mm at this point I have one egg measuring 15 and will be measured again on Wed. Your doctor should have you come in on the 10th day after your cycle to take a look at your ovaries this way you will see if the clomid has affected your ovaluation drastically. I pray that we conceive this go around, however, if we do not I do not think I will use the meds next month. I would like to know how many eggs I have without medication.

Good luck and keep me posted and I will do the same.
