Default Nebulizer?

I figured I would come here and ask you ladies. Jonah has had difficulty breathing quite often since his release from the NICU. I have complained and complained about it, but our doctore kept saying it was normal cold/allergy stuff. Well, yesterday after five days of wheezing and watching his little lungs retract, we saw him again. He finally ordered a nebulizer machine.
We started our first treatment last night. He screamed the WHOLE time.

I know this can be fairly common for preemies. Any hints, ideas, suggestions.

Hadleigh does not need one but her full term cousin does. He started at 4 months for asthma. I know my sister puts him on her lap with the mask...she just holds it does not put the elastic around his head. He is squirmy but she talks to him or sings and that relaxes him. Not easy thing to do but you will find your groove.

hope the breathing gets better...very scary stuff.

Jasmine has one. They didnt give me a mask though cause when I had to give her the inhaler she wouldnt sit still for that hence the nebulizer. I sit her on my lap now or in her bouncing chair walker thing (whatever you want to call it) and hold the treatment in front of her nose and mouth so i can make sure she gets it. yeah she gets squirmy and she gets fussy but i keep at it until all of it is gone. Try a toy to hold or a chair that makes noise. It helps.

Nicklas started with his at about four months. We generally just sit in a rocking chair with him and rock him and talk to him or sing. He is 13 months now and just finished with over two weeks of 3-4 x per day. Ugh I feel for you.
We do put the strap around his head, but he also sits pretty good.
Our Peds office said, although it is difficult for us when they cry during treatments it is actually good since when they cry it opens them up. The hospital said the same thing to me when he has had chest Xrays.
Good luck! I hope things are better soon!
