Hi ladies,

I'm new to this forum. My DD is almost 18 months old and still nurses several times a day. She nurses at least 5 times a day (morning, naptime, bedtime and 2x during the night). But it's not uncommon for her to nurse 7 or more times per day.

My DS nursed until he was just over 2 years, but I got pregnant once he turned 15 months old, at which point I didn't have a lot of milk (if any). So he didn't nurse much during my pregnancy.

I'm just wondering if any of you experienced a toddler who nursed this much and how long did it last for you. I don't think she is teething as this has been going on for quite some time. It doesn't bother me (though I could do without the middle-of-the-night feedings). And she eats fine for a toddler, in addition to nursing. Just curious if any of you have experienced this.

I just thought I'd pop in and let you know my experiences. I currently have an 18 month old who nurses, well, let's see...probably 8 or more times a day. If I'm sitting down, she's usually thinking its a good opportunity to get her some nursing. So, I guess that my short answer would be... yes! There are other 18 month olds who nurse a lot!

yes, ds didn't nurse much, but dd still nursed as often as the avg newborn for her first prob 2.5-3 yrs.

my ds2 nursed like that until he was 13 months, I nightweaned so he nursed 8-12x during the daytime, but by the time he was 15m/o I had to limit his nursing due to sore nipples. now he nurses 4-5x a day and usually asks much more often (7-8x/day) at almost 21m.

brendan is 3 yrs and 7 months -he will nurse when i sit down ,morning time and bedtime so he nurses alot somedays but somedays less -we still co-sleep

Thank you so much for the replies. A few of my friends have younger ones (just under a year) who are only nursing 2-3x a day, so I guess I just needed to hear that it's not uncommon for a toddler to nurse oftern.

I nursed my ds (now 3) until he was 24months.
He weened himself a month before his sister was born.

I'm late to the thread but wanted to say yes! My little guy is almost 23 mos. old and he nurses upwards of 8-10x's/day. We also co-sleep and he nurses to fall asleep, nurses at least once in the middle of the night, nurses again near dawn and then upon waking.
