Icon11 What Do You Guys Do?

I am curious what you guys stay away from while you are trying to conceive. I know the standard Alcohol and such. But what about caffeine, hot dogs and diet soda? The couple of months of trying I ate like I was pregnant but, I am not sure if this makes sense or not, it would be make me more upset that I wasn't pregnant. I must admit I am back to drinking coffee in the morning- what do you guys do?

I never was a coffee drinker, but I have given up caffenated beverages. (After a week of bad headaches, I have had maybe one headache in a few months) Really giving up caffeine when I did was so I wouldn't have to go through the withdrawal headaches if/when I'm pregnant--I figure I'll have enough on my plate then.

I also don't like diet sodas....something about the aftertaste that I don't like.

I try not to take any unnecessary medicines....if my allergies are bothering me I'll try to tough it out.

I know I'm probably over-the-top, but it's just how I am.

I've also read that one or two cups of coffee a day isn't bad. Everything in moderation!

I also should add that this is only our first month TTC.

I might change my tune and loosen up a bit after a few cycles.

I am trying to cut down on the caffeine, it is hard though! I never have more than 1 a day but usually not that if I can help it.

I have heard so many things to avoid, like cold lunchmeat, if you have a sandwich heat it first, soft cheese, non-pasturized dairy. Stuff like that.

I have really not made any major changes at this point, but I do kind of watch it.
Sorry that I could not provide much insight on that one for you.

This is our 3rd cycle ttc so I might get a little more fanatical if it takes a while or loosen up depending on what I feel is causing the delay!

To be honest I really only limit myself during the 2ww. It doesn't make sense to me to avoid things before that! The exception is seafood and tuna, I would eat it everyday if I could but don't want mercury to build up in my system. During the 2ww I avoid alcohol and any drugs (and no, I don't mean illegal drugs, lol). I also shy away from harsh chemicals such as toxic cleaning supplies.

Jacie,

Is there anything wrong with soy during pregnancy?

My DH is a vegetarian, so we eat soy products like Morningstar Farms and Boca a few times a week. Can it cause any problems?

Thanks!
