Icon1 Update

Hello ladies,
I know it's been a long time since I was last here and most of the gals who knew me have probably moved on by now. But I thought that I should check-in and let you know how I'm doing in case you were worried I'd dropped off the face of the planet.

In baby news, or lack of baby news, we still aren't pregnant. My OBGYN diagnosed me with PCOS late last year and I've been on Metformin and Clomid since November. They are both working in so far as my periods have come back, are a consistant 31-33 days long and I'm ovulating. They aren't working in so far as I'm not pregnant, I'm ovulating really late (CY 23) and I'm having some pretty harsh side effects from the Metformin and may have to find a new medication.

I've spoken to my OBGYN about progesterone suppliments because of the short luteal phase but he pretty much blew me off and said not to come back until I'm actually pregnant. He's a nice guy and all but he's pretty clueless about fertility problems so I'll have to find a good specialist. Oddly enough this month we decided not to chart this month and take a break and this month I'm late (9 days) and have been having odd symptoms including sharp tugging pain behind my belly button, shooting pains in my breasts, nausea, things taste funny, I'm peeing more and I'm always tired but can't sleep for long. I think it could be stress though as I've been fairly stress for the last month.

Speaking of stressed, we're moving. It's a mixed blessing and we're not quite sure how to feel about it yet. On the one hand it's a permanent job doing something my hubby will enjoy and the people he'll work with seem nice. It's also more money and I'll be much closer to my family. On the other hand we really like it where we are now and were hoping to stay and the move itself will be a real pain. We have to fly out in a couple weeks to find a place to rent, fly back, pack, then drive from California to Delaware with 12 cats. I have no idea how to even transport that many animals that far. Plus we'll have to rent a van and hire a moving company and I don't even know how to find a reputable moving company. And I'd be lying if I said I was totally happy about moving so close to my family. Granted they'ss still be several hours away but I haven't seen any of them in seven years and there was a reason we moved so far away. I just don't want to lose my privacy or get in the middle of their drama again.

:;sigh:: I'm so stressed out but I'm trying to look at this in a positive way. If any of you ladies have any advice I'd love to hear it. I hope you gals are having more luck on the baby making front than me and I'm sending you all tons of baby dust. I do miss you ladies it's just hard coming here when I don't have anything to report. ::big hugs:: Good luck and blessings, Prana

Hi Prana,

I don't have much advice on the TTC front. I'm anovulatory, so I'll be starting Clomid soon. I can give you some help with moving, though. My husband moved to Ohio from CA last year, I'll be moving there soon, and our two cats moved there last week. I was really leary of moving companies too, and I think with good reason. My DH found a moving company where you pack up your stuff in one of their trucks, and then they drive it for you, and then you unpack it at the other end. They have an option where you can pack your stuff in pods, but unless you're moving out of a 1 bedroom apartment the pod is probably too small. You only pay for the length in feet that your stuff occupies in the truck, instead of the weight of your stuff like a lot of other companies do. It would up costing us about half as much as a truck rental would have cost, not even counting gas for the drive (they pay for their own gas). Their website is upack.com. I am using the same service once I (finally) move.

When my cats went out there, we flew them. I thought about the two of them in the car with me for four days, and decided that it would be better for them to be stressed out for one day on an airplane, than to be stressed out for 4 days in the car. It cost a little bit, but was worth it. I think it would be hard to find a hotel along the way that would let you stay with 12 cats. But yeah, a van is a good idea if you decide to travel with them. Maybe stay overnight in campsights along the way?

I'm not on too much anymore, but if you have any more questions, I'll try to answer them. Good luck!
