Rapid Weight Gain
I have a problem. I'm not one to weigh myself often (too depressing), but my normal weight is around 150 lb (I'm 5'7). Long story short, I weighed myself this morning and I'm 165 lb. WTF??? I know I weighed around 150 in March. I eat the same as always and even though I haven't exercised as much as usual the past two months, I have still done at least something every week. I used to be overweight and I have problems seeing when I change weight (messed up body image), but I'm almost certain the majority of the weight gain is from the past two months.
Now, my question is, which is more likely...that I gained all this weight and that's why my cycle is messed up? Or the weight gain and the no-show ovulation are symptoms of something else? Or am I gaining weight because my hormones have gone haywire? I realize I have to tell my doc, but I was not planning on seeing him until next week. Any ideas?
Anyway, I'm off to the gym.

Re: Rapid Weight Gain
Oh, Elle. It might be your thyroid. That can mess up your O and cause weight gain or weight loss. Call your Dr. today and tell him. He'll probably want to check that. Let me know what happens girl. I'll be thinking about you.

The day you deliver, outside will be windy. Your baby will arrive in the early evening.
After a labor lasting approximately 5 hours, your child, a boy, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 8 pounds, 5 ounces, and will be 21 inches long. This child will have hazel eyes and be completely bald.

Re: Rapid Weight Gain
First of all, let me say that if my post came off as a bit insensitive to anyone I'm very sorry. I don't have a problem with what other people weigh at all, I'm just a bit screwed up in the head when it comes to my own weight. 150 lb just happens to be MY "comfort weight", meaning where I'm comfortable with what I weigh.
I looked at some pictures from earlier this summer. I think I had already gained some, but definitely not all, of the weight in the beginning of July, so let's say I have gained 10 - 12 lb in 3 - 4 months. That's still very unusual for me. DH claims he can't see it (bless him) but I know my clothes have gotten a little tighter lately (I just assumed it was a few lbs as usual, not 12!).
Jen, I can't get an appointment today (I explained why in an IM) but I'm glad I'm going to see my doc soon. I know the plan is to check my thyroid then.

Re: Rapid Weight Gain
Hun I'm with ya on that. I went of BC in Feb when we started ttc and in a matter of 2 months I had gained 20 pounds. I have never ever been one to gain weight like that. To this day noone can explain what happend and why I gained the weight, so now I'm just slowly trying to work it back off. In that time I was also not ovulating. In fact I just ovulated for the first time since then a few days ago.. Good luck, I hope they can give you some more definate information.

Re: Rapid Weight Gain
Bumblebee, good to see you back . Glad to hear I'm not alone. Did you notice if you retained fluids more than usual when you gained weight? I have had that feeling for months. It doesn't matter how much I drink, it's as if my body just absorbs it. Weird! Anyway, I'm glad to hear you O'd and I hope you get a BFP soon!

Re: Rapid Weight Gain
It did seem that about half of the weight I had gained was water. My Dr told me to cut down my daily fluid intake to 32 oz. and my body would stop reserving so much. It did help, but it was really hard to do.

Re: Rapid Weight Gain
Elle, I'm not sure what could be the cause, but I wanted to say that I hope your doc can figure it out quickly and it is an easy solution.
Good luck girl!
