So I had an appointment with the NP at my OB yesterday.
Can I just say that I LOVE THIS WOMAN!!!?!
When she walked in the room I was like, "Yep...me again. You're probably so sick of seeing me!"
I asked her if she thought I was being crazy since we've only been trying 4 months.
Her answer made my day.
She said that she tells all her patients that when they have been trying for at least 4 cycles with really great timing before ovulation, and no results...that is long enough for her to start trying some things.
She said "WHY WAIT"???
I was so happy, I swear I could have hugged her!
Before I could even get to my rehearsed speech about how I didn't think I was producing enough progesterone, she offered to prescribe a progesterone supplement. She said that sometimes, if we are a little low on something, that's all it will take. So, I am supposed to start taking progesterone suppositories (PROCHIEVE) this cycle and hopefully that will get the ball rolling.
She also gave me a requisition form (kinda like a prescription I guess) for hubby to have a SA at the lab they work with. She told me they are fertility specialists and to have him go in for the SA after I am sure I have ovulated this cycle so as not to "waste" any spermies as a sample. She also said we could potentially wait to see weather or not we conceive this cycle before scheduling the SA.
I think he wants to have the analysis either way. He is super curious about this whole thing. And I think he wants to know where he stands as far as his guys go.
Last night I was reading up some refresher stuff in TCOYF and The Mother of All Pregnancy Books, and me and the hubby were swapping books back and forth and it was so cute, he was reading all about SA's and then rattling off all kinds of info to me about it.
***QUESTIONS***
I was wondering if any of you have any experience with the progesterone supplements (suppositories in particular). I have read that they can be difficult to insert and that they can potentially make you feel sick. The NP did tell me that it may make my period late, which is going to be such a tease if we don't conceive this cycle and she's late. But she said if I'm 7 days late and still have a negative HPT, I should stop the progesterone and I will likely start my next cycle within a day or so.
So, that's basically all I know.
Time for my trusty SheKnows Girls to spill any info you may have stored away on the subject.
OH!!! One more question, I am probably going to ovulate in the next day or two. I have read that the time to start the prog supplements is AFTER you ovulate (like the next day or something). She told me to start the prog now. Does that seem off to anyone or is that right? I just don't want the progesterone to delay or prohibit my ovulating this cycle.
Any thoughts?
*I have phoned the doctor's office and just waiting on them to call back before I start taking the supplements -- I really think I'm suppose to start it AFTER ovulation is confirmed.
