Default Pregnancy Tests?

I've read that First Response is the most accurate, but I'm still confused about when I can actually test and get a reliable result. Some things say you can test 8-10 DPO, but other say you can't get a reliable result until after your missed period. Which First Response test is best at early detection? Thanks!!!

i just like to POAS, im not sure about what brad is better though. i kno a lot of ladies start testing at 10dpo and can get a faint line. usually around 12-15 dpo the ladies get clearer results. there was a post awhile back about sticks...when i get off work (12:30) i will see if i can dig it up!

Hopefully Michelle can dig up that post (I'll leave it up to you, Tai LOL).
I remember there was a lot of useful info in that one...

In the meantime, I know you basically want to look for THE LOWEST HCG detetction you can find. You want the detection numbers to be as low as possible because if you are early in pregnancy, your HCG levels will (obviously) be low. Your HCG doubles every other day in pregnancy so, if you get a - result, skip a day and test again.
If I remember correctly, I've used FR test and they don't print on their packaging what level of HCG they test for.
I've gotten dollar tree tests that test for 20 units of HCG, which is a really good test. And cheap. Most of the cheapie tests are made by the big drug companies anyway, and they all test for the same thing...its just a matter of the LEVEL they test for.

How long have you been TTC?

Do you think it depends on the length of your LP as well? Mine is the long, 16 days. I have always tried the dollar store ones too, and I don't think I will get the expensive ones. My sister has gotten both of her bfp's from the cheapies!

there was a post on ttc 6 months + that a lady had done a test to see what test gave better results and earlier results. she tested like 8 different sticks with the same pee sample. sadly i couldnt find the post but i did find this on the board:

The February 2003 issue of Consumer Reports rates both Home Pregnancy Tests and Ovulation Prediction Kits.

The top rated pregnancy test is FIRST RESPONSE EARLY RESULT PREGNANCY TEST. Which was rated "excellent" for both HCG Sensitivity and 10-Minute HCG Sensitivity and was rated "good" fore ease of reading (no HPT was rated better than "good" for ease of reading).

HPT rated "excellent"
FIRST RESPONSE EARLY RESULT PREGNANCY TEST

HPTs which were rated "very good" were:
ANSWER QUICK & SIMPLE ONE-STEP PREGNANCY TEST
ANSWER PREGNANCY TEST
CLEARBLUE EASY ONE MINUTE PREGNANCY TEST

HPTs rated "good" include:
CLEAR CHOICE AT HOME PREGNANCY TEST
E.P.T. PREGNANCY TEST
CLEARPLAN EASY PREGNANCY TEST PACK
INVERNESS MEDICAL EARLY PREGNANCY TEST
AMERICAN FARE (KMART) EASY TO READ PREGNANCY TEST

HPTs rated "fair":
CVS PREGNANCY TEST
SAV-ON OSCO (ALBERTSON'S) PREGNANCY TEST
RITE AID ONE STEP PREGNANCY TEST
ECKERD ONE STEP PREGNANCY TEST
EQUATE (WAL MART) PREGNANCY TEST

HPT rated "poor"

and Kara -- I'm not sure if a long luteal phase would affect implantation or not.
Once that bean has implanted, most women will be able to get a +++ HPT within a week of implantation since thats when we start producing HCG.

I don't think a long LP will affect implantation but maybe?

Thanks everyone! Definitely helpful! We starting to TTC this month and of course I'll be anxious to test and see if we get pregnant...but I guess I should try to wait until 12 DPO just to make sure. Hopefully I'll be back with some good news soon

Thanks for the good luck wishes! I've been charting since Jan, but it seems like I ovulate on CD12-14 (it hasn't been consistently on the same day). We were planning to every day from CD10 until my temp rises. Is that too often? I figured every day would be better...but maybe not?

I used First Response 1 day after my missed period and it was :BFP. I went to the doctor and he did a test and it was :BFN. The results never came up on the docter's office test until like 6 or 7 days after my missed period. And remember with First Response a line is a line mine was faint I thought maybe I wasen't pregnant but here I am now 11 weeks pregnant. Good Luck girls

If you pop over to www.peeonastick.com you can read tons of info on pretty much every HPT brand out there. She did a ton of research and even has pics!

If you don't mind my asking, which First Response test did you use? Thanks!

Another question - is there a difference between pink and blue ink tests? Is one more reliable or easier to read than the other? Is one better to take early on? Or maybe there's no difference at all
