Default How long..

should I wait until I go to the doctor about not being able to conceive ? My hubby and I are older. I am 36 and he is 45. Not really old but in baby making years, we are. In a couple months we will have been trying for 6 months.I know that isn't long but I think I am going to go see my doctor if by then it hasn't happened for us. I was really feeling good about this cycle but now I am spotting and I always spot anywhere from a week to a few days before my period.
We both have kids from previous marriages- he has 3 and I have one. I am wondering if because of my age, I just will take a lot longer. My husband doesn't seem to think that it shold take so long. I try and tell him 4 months is nothing! When he was married before and they decided to try to conceive, it happened in he first or second month for each one. I know that if it takes a while he might just say that we need to stop because he is just to old. It was a lot to get him to say we could try mainly because of his age. I prayed, cried, and talked about it a lot and he agreed and said he wants to havea baby. i am just scared it will change if it doesn't happen soon.

My doctor said to "have fun" for six months and if it didn't happen in that time frame he'd take a closer look. It can take 6-9 months for healthy couples with no fertility issues to get pregnant. Each month you typically only have a 20% chance of achiving pregnancy.
Of course there are people that seem to have better success rate. I have a friend that got pg on the first try with both of her kids (and she has one ovary...)

Talking with your doctor can't hurt. I wish you the best!
