Questions re: Supply, Pumping, etc.....
Hi Ladies! I am new to the BF and pumping game....Joey is 13 days old. So far I think we are doing alright based on his weight gain but I am nervous about keeping my supply up, and successfully pumping once I go back to work at six weeks....
We started out BF'ing with a nipple shield due to flat nipples, but I have been able to wean off of it for about 60% of our feedings, and am working towards weaning off of it completely.
Right now I am pumping once a day, and have managed 2 oz a couple times (3 oz once) and 1 oz a couple times.....this is usually right after Joey has nursed, or about an hour or so later while he is napping.
I am using the Medela Lactina Select but am thinking about switching to the Medela Symphony at the end of my one-month rental period (my sister has used both and can't say enough about the Symphony).
Here are my questions:
1. Supply once you go back to work -- did you have problems with this? How much were you pumping (times/day and oz/time)? what did you do to increase supply? how long do you pump in a session? I have been following the 'pump for 2-5 minutes after milk stops' policy already.
2. Pumping -- What 'power' do you use on the pump? I have it on high and max....is that bad?
Any other advice you have is welcome!
