Default Wow this is really playing dirty...

I was at the pediatrician's for Darius' 9 month checkup today and there were a couple of boxes on the counter where they keep the freebie's. On the front of the box was a beautiful picture of a baby nursing at a breast and in BIG letters it said Nutritional kit for new breastfeeding Mom's and in tiny letters it added "and supplementing Mom's". It said it had a bottle of Vitamin D drops inside for your breastfed baby. Being the skeptic I am I looked closer and on the side it was of course from a formula company (enfamil) and included along with the vitamins a big tin of formula and coupons for more. The small print being that if you breastfeed your child is not getting the nutrition that they need because you have to give Vitamin D drops but the formula has everything you need. What a way to sabotage a new Mom and get her worried her baby is not getting everything s/he needs! That's just playing dirty! I made a comment rather loudly so the doc could hear to another Mom who was nursing her baby as well while we were waiting as we agreed how horrible it was especially for first timers (she had 3 kids).
