What a week!
So I thought I was on my way to getting everything worked out, but a few more issues creeped up.
1. Emily lost some weight on 100% breast and is back on bottles. The LC said it might have been not enough hindmilk and what I thought was "extra" that I was pumping was hindmilk she needed. So I am trying to BF and pump/bottle feed again.
2. She was evaluated for tounge-tie and had her frenulum clipped. I think it has helped somewhat, so that's good
3. She is having bad reflux and is now on mylanta and prevacid although still screaming a LOT.
4. I developed yeast infection in my breasts and nipples.... OUCH!
The stress led to a decrease in supply (almost stoppage) for two days
I am trying so hard to keep her on breastmilk and hopefully feed her at breast fully and one day not have to pump at EVERY feed. I wonder if she will ever be able to breastfeed and get all that she needs. When she bottle feeds she can get really full, but at the breast she doesn't seem to stay focused enough to get all that she want or needs. She seems to have improved since having her frenulum clipped, but what else can we do? I am still seeing a LC here but she doesn't seem as motivated to get her on breast as I am. She keeps saying that by now baby is set in her ways and I might just have to pump. While I understand that as a possibility, (I've been doing it for 3 mos) I am hesitant to give in to that without trying really hard to bf. Sorry to go on and on but it's been a really hard week for us. I hope there's a light at the end of the tunnel.
