Icon4 What happened to my letdowns??

I've always had strong letdowns....

5 days ago, I moved Mia into her crib (she's a year old now).

She wasn't getting any nursing sessions.

Before, we were co sleeping and she was up every 2 hours from midnight to 6am.

For the past 2 days, I've had faint to mild letdowns.

Could this mean my supply is dropping?

I really do not want this to happen, as I plan on nursing her until next year!!!

normally you don't feel letdowns as strongly after a couple of months of nursing, as your supply is well established, however, if you felt them strongly uo until just the recent move to the crib, it may have a little to do with that. cosleeping (and frequent night nursing) increases prolactin "the mothering hormone" and prolactin amounts do play a part in milk supply, along with demand.

if she was previously nursing at 12, 2, 4, and 6, and you just dropped those all of a sudden,m then yes, that would cause a drop in prolactin levels.

there is also the very slight chance that your supply is still the smae, and you ar ejust now feleing a decrease in sensation of letdown, but the timing is unlikely.

also, even if your supply is dropping, it doens't automatically mean she won't continue to nurse. increased nursing will bump your supply right back up, assuming you're not preggie or having a *reason* for a dorp in supply.
