i have mastitis again!

i noticed my temp went up fri but didnt think anything of it ( yes i am still temping.... )

this am i woke up cause when i rolled over my boob hurt sooooooooo bad! its my left this time i thought at first it was just my sports bra cause it was a lil tight, so i changed and went back to sleep.

well when i woke later to nurse her it hurt worse! my temp was higher and i was achy all over.

the rash is under my boob so thats why i didnt notice it the first time i got up. i have slept most of the day with my boob in her mouth. its feeling better finally.

looks like i will have another round of meds to take yay me

start taking lecithin to help prevent future plugs, make sur ethat when you're wearing a bra that it fits perfectly and doens't compress any of your milk dcuts (avoid underwires), and if you'd rather do a natural treatment instead of antibiotics, head to your local health food store and get hepar sulfur and phytolacca.


also, make sure that you're drinking enough water, and that you try to cut back on saturated fats if you've recently had more than usual.

we went to the doc today....last time i had mastities i noticed that bethanys tongue was a lil white and asked the doc if it was thrush....but the doc said it was fine...


well the white spot has gotten larger and is covering her tongue....turns out it was thrush!

she thinks thats why i have the infection again. so we are both starting meds today....

what'd the doc prescribe for her? nystatin? if so, don't be surprised if it doesn't work. yeast thrive on sugar, and if you check out the ingredients of the nystatin liquid, i'm sure you'll see the lovely "ose" ending on one of those ingredients. "ose" = sugar.

so the doc prescribed you both abx for the mastitis and diflucan for the thrush? the diflucan is good, as long as he/she got you a nice strong loading dose, and has the rx last for a good long treatment. the abx, well, that usually makes yeast worse....remember, antibiotics kill of the bad bacteria that is causing an infection, but it also kills off the good bacteria that keep yeast in check.

your other option is to use gentian violet on both you and the baby. just don't schedule professional pics for a couple of days, because the lil one's mouth will be a gorgeous shade of purple
