tongue tied
Hey everyone!
I've been having trouble breastfeeding my newest little one. At first I just thought it was because she had a little mouth and I had big nipples. My nipples were cracked and bleeding and she was spitting up blood so I started pumping and bottle feeding.
So far I haven't had to give any formula and pumping has all been going great but I'd still like to be able to eventually cut the pumping out.
I still try to get her latched on before I pump. Usually she will she will latch on and bite at the breast until I let down, she'll gulp a couple times and then let go.
I'm starting to think that she is tongue tied.
My husband has the heart shaped tongue and with all of our boys we checked right away but for whatever reason we didn't really pay attention to it with her. Yesterday however, she was crying and her tongue was near the roof of her mouth and you could see the tell-tale heart shape.
My question is... do we have to have it clipped to have success with breast feeding? Or are there tricks to getting her latched on right? Should I just keep trying and hope she'll just get the hang of it eventually or is that not likely?
Anyone have any experience with this? What did you do?
Thanks for reading my novel =)
Bree
