Default Storing/freezing breast milk

I was just watching something on television about midwives and they had a quick thing about bf'ing and pumping and the midwife said that once the milk is in the bag it should be stored standing up so it is all at the bottom. When I freeze my milk I lay it down flat so that the bags are somewhat flat and are easier to store in the freezer.
Does anyone know if freezing the milk in this manner is bad?

I really wouldn't think it would matter. I rarely have enough to freeze, but when I do, I lay the bag flat as well.

The milk seperates no matter what anyways.

I have never heard that about standing it up. I alwas laid mine flat and 2 boys later neither have had any issue. I would look on kellymom and see what it says.

We just used up the last of my freezer stash and thankfully I am past the pumping stage now. (I deserve to be pump free at 18 months!!!).

I think the only reason for the tip is a practical one.......there's less likelyhood of the milk leaking out of the bag during the thawing process if it's frozen standing up - it makes absolutely no difference to the quality of the milk itself
