Default Public breastfeeding with large breasts

I'm hoping someone here can give me some advice regarding breastfeeding my 2 month old in public. I have larger breasts (DD curently) and so I usually have to support them and use the crossover hold while she eats. I'm a pretty modest person so I'm nervous about feeding her in public anyways, but I'm desperate to be able to get out of the house for more than an hour at a time. I have feed her in the car a few times, but that's not very convient if I'm out at a restaurant. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I, too, have DD's (especially during the first couple of months) and it can be done. A recieving blanket tucked into your collar or bra strap can work pretty well. There are also special drapes designed just for nursing (like Hooter Hiders). This does sorta scream "I'm nursing!", but it does hide all the parts.

A sling with a tail (like a Maya Wrap) can work really well, as long as you can get the baby into the right position. You can use the tail to cover up, I've done this while walking around parties and at a mall and nobody even suspected we were nursing. This might work better for you when she's more like 4mos or so, though.

I found that as Vivian got older, though, she HATED being covered up and as soon as she had the coordination she would tear off anything and everything I tried to use. Fortunately, as babies get older their mouths get bigger and they get better at nursing without all the special holds and cover up more of the breast while nursing.

I became less and less modest as time went on, though! Not that I flash nipple at every opportunity, but I stopped worrying about covering everything up

Good luck with solving your cabin fever!

pretty much a ditto to what kara said, except that i am VERY large busted (i was a DDD in high school- WAAAAY before thinking about kiddos).

what works best for me is when i'm out and about and sitting down on the ground, i just crossed my legs, get baby situated- my legs would support them, and i could use my hand to hold my breast, so i still would hjave a free hand to drink with or whatever. when sitting in a reguilar chair, if it it had an armrest, that would help support the child's head, if not, i would use one croseed leg to hold the body up and stil support the rbeast.
i dind't relly use a drape, as i live in the south where it isquite, and i figiured it would be cruel and unusual punishment to be under a blnket

i did however just wear larger, baggier shirts , and once the kiddo was latched on, i just let the shirt fall down to cover up everythign that the child's head wasn't.

i don't recall there being anytime when anyone got to see my nipples (that wasn't a nurse, my doula, or a good friend who wa shelping me get situated when they were tiny etc.)

Thank you very much for your advice. I'll try some of these tricks at home first to see if I can get them to work. I really appreciate it.
