But in the last 2 wks we have been going days in between and what comes out is harder then it should be. I stopped solids for a few days and ended up doing a glycerin suppository on both after trying prunes with not much help.
Ive started them back on solids again and we are now not pooping again... They are not getting alot. I have stopped giving them rice at their two meals. They are eating oatmeal now and only at breakfast then a fruit and/or veggie at dinner. (I am giving them 2 meals a day) Since the suppository there has been no poop but no straining either. (the supp. was Sunday "Happy Mothersday!")
Any suggestions? BF'ed babies usually dont have this problem so I am at a loss. Should I make sure to give them prunes like once a week or more? Im not sure what to do they are almost 7 months so they should be eating solids, Right?

technically bf babies should have nothing but mama's milk for at least the first 6 months, and then GRADUALLY introducing solids. 2 meals a day sounds like a lot *to me* for babies not even 7 months old. my son didn't actually start solids at all until 9 months, and his iron and everything were perfect. some babies' systems simply arne't ready right at 6 months. if you're gfoing to continue the solids, i'd suggest stopping the cereal entirely, and only doing solids one time a day. also, i am not sure if anyone told you or not, you should be nursing first and then "topping them off" with a few spoonfuls of their solid, not giving solids first. solid foods at this age are for practice eating, not really for nutrition, as the main source of nutrition thoruhg their birthday should be mama's milk.
i have a little more, brb.
remind me real quick, how early were they actually? just a couple weeks?
