I am now in my 2nd week of BF and my little guy seems to poop numerous times a day, like 1 to 2 times per feeding. is this normal?

Right now I am feeding on demand and we do have feeding down, he is champ.

I just dont want his little hiney to pay and I want to make sure that hes getting enough.

Breastfed babies can poop anywhere from every feeding to once in 10 days and it is perfectly normal. My first daughter sounds like your baby, she would poop several times a day. My washing machine was working overtime! Now my second baby poops once every 2-3 days (and what an event it is ).

Yep, completely normal. Once mine passed the pooping every few hours thing they went to pooping every 12-14 days!!!

At first it scared the crap out of me (excuse the pun) but, it was normal for them.

Yep my LO did that until she hit her 3 week growth spurt and now its usually once a day and a half and sometimes every 2-3 days. That's one more thing I love about bf'ing compared to my ff'ing friends, very few poopy diapers after the intial couple of weeks!

Congrats he's a cutie!

Like the other ladies said that's totally normal. My little guy has just slowed down in the last week or so.

We went thru a period of every few day poops around 6 weeks. Once they picked back up she went to once a day. Now at 14 mos let's see I changed...3 disgusting poops today. Sometimes as many as 5.

She still nurses 4-5 times a day and eats 3 solid meals and a snack...or two.

at least you don't hafta worry about them being too smelly yet- as long as he is just getting your milk, the dipes stay pretty mild smelling.

He is most likely fine. Frequent stools, yellow, not too smelly, very loose are normal for the breastfed infant. This can last several months. I assume he is also wetting at least 6 times a day, tho it is hard to tell with all the poop. He is probably gaining over 8 oz a week. He may want to feed 12 or even more times a day, wanting this is not fussy, just normal. The bottom line, so to speak, is weight gain. If he is gaining well, he is great!!!!! You probably are quite tired however, don't think you can go back to full speed ahead for several weeks yet. Good luck, sounds like you and he are doing a great job.
