Default Pinkeye meds Q??

I had pinkeye about two weeks ago. The Tobradex my doc gave me said not to take while BFing, so I never took them and it ran its course. It said that it was unknown whether it was excreted, so it's more like a 'just in case' kind of thing.

Now, the pinkeye is back. Dangit. I woke up with globs on top of my contact, between my eye and contact, and all in my eye. I wiped it out with a warm wet cloth (what's good for baby. . .) and threw my contacts down the toilet. Now I'm back in the stupid glasses for now. I'm gonna do one dose now anyway - just one. Any advice?

You know a great thing for pinkeye? Breast milk. At least that is what I've been told, and I have a friend who said it worked for her. My DH has pinkeye right now and he won't let me test it out on him, but if any of the rest of us get it I'll let you know.

Here is one reference to it:

Good luck, what a pain it can be!

When Cara had goop (not red or pink though) coming out of her eyes I put some in it, and it worked imo. I just don't think I can squirt all the way to my face. lol

at the image of squirting into your eye But all you have to do is express a little into a cup or something, and then use an eye dropper

I say give it a try and if it doesn't work then explore the meds further. BM is amazing stuff.

oh, and if the milk doesn't work, i don' thave any info on this med specifically, but iof it is a TOPICAL drop or ointment etc that you ar eputting directly in the eye and not a tablet etc that you are actually ingesting, the amounts excretted through your milk would be minimal, if any.

We had pinkeye here this past winter and the doc gave me a drop and said it was fine for BF'ing. I even looked it up. I would talk to your doc and question if its really bad for BF'ing. Usually there is something they can give you with no problems. No reason to sit and suffer. I would try the BM. That sounds interesting. I know it helps with cuts and scrapes ad stuff. I guess why not, right?
