my four month old has started to clamp down (biting) on me while nursing. what can i do..she's only 4 months old...she doesn't know what she's doing.

help!

The books say pull her into your breast till she lets go. The idea is she won't be able to breathe unless she lets go. I would say no biting mommy in a stern voice which may make her cry. Maybe wait a minute of two and then resume nursing. Praise her for nursing properly. Best to work on this behaviour now. Addison bit me with only 2 teeth at 7 mos old and left a gaping bloody sore on my nipple. It was a nightmare.

it is possible she's teethign already. the pressure form biting down feels good on gums, you can use a cold wet washcloth wrapped around your finger to apply gentle pressure to her little gums.
