Default Nip pain (x-post)

Yesterday I was nursing Amelia and she was really jerking her head around quite a bit while nursing on the left side. She didn't seem to be bothered at all and continued nursing, but it was painful for me. I would pop her off and re-latch her and the same thing would happen for a couple of minutes and then she finished nursing. Now my left nipple is extremely sore and there are some little clear blisters on the very tip. This is my only symptom and I haven't noticed any symptoms in her so I'm not sure what's going on. She nursed fine on both sides this morning, but it is painful for me on the left obviously. I have rubbed ebm and Lansinoh on my nipple. Is there anything else I can do to help this pain go away? I'm pretty sure it was just her jerking around that caused the problem, but I suppose it's possible that she was jerking for a reason. Any thoughts? TIA ladies!!

she could have been yanking trying to get a faster flow. maybe your left breast lets down slower than your right?

my right breast always produced more, but let down slower than my left one.

to help the pain go away sooner, you could uyse breast shells (not to be confused with nipple shields) and you could get a rx for apno. if you don't want ot try the breastshells, you can try just letting air on your nipples more, and sunlight if possible (depending on how close your home is to your neighbors etc)

That's good to know because I know my left is the better producer. I wouldn't have thought it could have a slower letdown. Honestly, I can't feel my letdown when she's eating. I only feel it when she goes longer between feedings. I might go ahead and try the breast shells.

What does the sunlight do? I think I could go unnoticed in my backyard -- I just need the rain to go away and the sun to come out...LOL!

you would only need a couple minutes of exposure, even sitting by a window for a couple minutes would likely help speed healing. i don't know why it works, i just know it is a pretty commonly recommended way to speed healing.
