Default New to the board with questions

I have a 5 week old that I have been breastfeeding. She has a great latch but doesnt nurse very long. As soon as there is no milk flow she comes off. Overnight we are fine... but she doesnt give my let down time to kick in. When I pump I get plenty of let downs but it doesnt give me hardly any milk when it does let down because she just doesnt trigger it. Maybe she is and I dont feel it but I feel it any other time. When she goes 3 hours in between I am full enough that she gets full but during the day mainly after lunch time she will nurse more frequently and just doesnt get satisfied and I think thats why. I dont know though...could be growth spurt etc.

If she would stay latched long enough with each feeding to trigger let downs wouldnt I get more milk with the let downs? So I am steady switching back and forth because I get a let down a minute or two after she pulls off and I will put her on that breast and then she comes off when no flow is there. Its a terrible cycle and I dont know what to do.

How can I get her to stay on? She is a fast efficent nurser and can empty a breast in 7-10 minutes.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm thinking she's going through a growth spurt. My Elias was the same way at that age. The best you can do is nurse when she wants to without looking at the clock. At her age you still need to get your milk established to her needs so maybe that's what she's trying to do. Don't worry too much. If she has enough wet/poopy diapers, even if she nurses every 1/2 hour or every hour, then that's normal. I'm sure she's getting enough

She is definitely producing wet and poopy diapers. I have decided to let her run the show. I just nurse whenever she wants to.

Thanks!
