I am 7 weeks postpartum and have had a little bleeding (bright red) for the past few days---but just a little, not like a normal period. Up until today it was just when I wiped. I am exclusively bfing but she will go some long stretches at night. So do you think AF has returned? I was not sure if this is worrisome or not. It certainly is annoying! My older daughter was at least 8 months when AF returned. I thought I'd get a break again!!!

Bright red sounds like AF. Yeah all deliveries are different. With my JJ i didn't get AF until 7 mos but with Elias it's almost a year and I've still to get it.

Hi there, I'm 7wks pp too. I read that any bleeding before 56 days pp should be considered as late pp, bright red or not. I was also told that by my doc because I had what seemed to be af at 5 weeks.

I am guessing pp bleeding myself. Did you have a more-than-active day when the bleeding happened? I know after both of my babies were born, I bled for about 3 weeks and then stopped. With both babies, I would have a day where I bled if I overdid it, until they were about 8-10 weeks old. My first I never got AF before getting pg with #2 and with #2 I didn't get AF until he was 18 months old.

I'm going to put my vote in for PP bleeding too......I'm from born in june '06 and I remember several moms posting about a "break-through/late-pp" bleed at around the 6 week mark give or take. I think it's common enough not to worry about and doubt a ebf mom would have a period this soon.......

Make a call to your doc if it worries you at all though! take care.....
