Default Hopefully no damage done!

I feel awful. I've had what I considered minor issues with my supply off and on since Darius was about 2 1/2 months old (he's 7 months now). I got great support on here on pumping while nursing (which I had forgotten about doing that when I had dd). Darius was just getting less and less satisfied over time, I took fenugreek and blessed thistle off and on to boost the supply, ate oatmeal, did compression while nursing, nursed on demand, pumped after nursing even though I wouldn't get anything. So I introduced solids at 4 months, my baby was happy and seemed content, I still did all of these things in regards to the nursing and even nursed before feeding solids but this boy would eat everything in sight! I figured, he's a boy and he just loves to eat. by 5 1/2 months he could polish off easily 4 jars (or rather equivalent since I made 90% of his food) plus snacks a day and still want more. Just a good eater right? By mid Nov I couldn't pump anything worth while while nursing(nothing when not nursing), maybe 1 ounce a day if I was lucky(yes yes I know don't go by the pump) Darius was getting 1 maybe 2 wet diapers a day at that point (lots of poop from all the solids). So then December was rough, I had food poisoning at the beginning of the month which took a huge hit on my supply and I was popping fenugreek/B.th and everything I could think of doing under the sun. 2 weeks later just before Christmas I got hit with the flu, again another hit to my rapidly decreasing supply, Christmas day my dd got bit on the face by a dog and we had to rush to emergency and spent the next week with doctors appointments etc, can you say stress???? Wham, I've never felt "full" but now I can rarely spray anymore when I squeeze my nipples... at this point Darius is down to 1 wet diaper a day and that's his first thing in the morning. I get home from our Christmas vacation on Jan 1st and get back hard core into pumping as well as all the supplements etc and so it goes on...I'm not a good one for going to the doctors and I kept giving myself a few more days and a few more days for things to come back up. Finally on Friday I went to the doctor at a walk in clinic and asked for Domperidone, its funny he actually thought I was a nurse from my knowledge of breastfeeding (I didn't make any comments about the competency regarding bf'ing and the nurses I've met! LOL). 2 days after taking the meds, I see a noticeable improvement and I can actually hear Darius drinking again for more than 15 seconds. 3 days later we're up to 4-5 wet diapers a day and he's pulling off from the nursing sessions with milk dribbling down his very content face today(day 4) its only just after 2pm and I've already changed 6 wet diapers and my little man who LOVED to eat so much has had very little interest in solids for the past 2 days, he'll take a couple of bites at each "meal" but not the ravenous boy I one knew. So OBVIOUSLY eating all the food was from not getting enough from me and he's getting a happy tummy now full of Mommy Milk.

Its scary how these things can be so gradual, at the end of course its easy to say oh he's just having 1 diaper (and the last couple of days the urine was getting darker hence me finally going into the docs) but when it happens so gradually you forget what the "normal" sounds of a swallowing baby are (he would suck for a long time or other times just a minute or two but rarely get more than 15 seconds of hearing his swallowing for the last month or so). I just really hope there's no damage done and I'm thrilled to be back to pretty much all Mommy and just a little solids.

Sorry for the essay and thanks for reading if you got this far!

-Erin
