Hi, I'd like to join you girls ~
I can't believe I have never been to this board!!!
I am a member of BIJune, and have been bfeeding my daughter for over 9 months. I have enjoyed looking around the posts here, and think you all would be a tremendous support and help for me. I constantly have questions and am always worrying about milk supply, etc. So I warn you, I can be annoying.
I am also pregnant with my second and am due in Sept. I hope to get to know all you ladies much better!
Little additional intro info:
My name is Trina, I am 27. My daughter Maya was born 6-16-07 and is our first baby. DH and I have been married 8 years, and like I said, are expecting our second in Sept. We plan on stopping at two, and are hoping for a little boy. I also plan to bfeed the new baby.

Re: Hi, I'd like to join you girls ~
Welcome to our board. Ask lots of questions, that's what we're here for!!
I'm Kenda, currently bfing my 13 month old and loving it. I originally hoped to make it to 6 mos, then 12 mos and now to the dismay of my mother in law will probably let Addison self wean. Once you get this far why stop? She loves it so much!
I would love to get pregnant with #2 in Aug/Sept this year but dh is not yet ready for another. I'm desperately hoping he'll come around. My current issue is that I still don't have AF. Addison sleeps through the night and eats lots of solids but so far she's a no show.
Anyway, just wanted to say welcome and congrats on 9 mos of bfing. Do you plan to tandem nurse?

I got pregnant with my 2nd when my 1st was 15mos old and still nursing. I tandem nursed the whole time, and both girls are still at it, LOL. Nursing while pregnant can get somewhat painful at times because of the nip sensitivity, but it can be done!
Congrats on your little bean!

Re: Hi, I'd like to join you girls ~
Hi and I am nursing my 5 month old twins and LOVE LOVE LOVE it....I had no idea i would like it so much I also planned to do it for 6 months (just for them) but then discovered really quickly (despite horrible issues with my nipples) that I loved nursing them and they love it too. So much so that one will NOT take a bottle no matter who when what kind or where...Thank god for them starting cereal, at least now in a pinch someone else can get something into her.
Ask away, Im a reader so I may actually be able to help despite my lack of tenure.

Re: Hi, I'd like to join you girls ~
Kenda -
I dont *plan* to tandem nurse, I really only wanted to nurse for a year - but I am actually surprised how much I enjoy nursing. I would enjoy it more if I didn't have to pump. I work full time and I have never been able to pump adequately. Like right now, I am getting only ONE ounce combined in TWO pumping sessions at work. I have read and tried all the secrets. I even started calling my Mom (who currently watches Maya while I am at work) and having her let me talk to Maya while I pump - and nothing helps my pumping volume.
I unfortuntely am running out of EBM in my freezer and am going to have to have Mom supplement with formula while I am gone, but I am still nursing as often as possible while I am home. Maya has recently started fighting me during nursing and acting like she is not at all interested in it. But mornings and nights are still so-so, so I try to get her to nurse as much as possible during those times.
You know its funny. I read everywhere about early weaning being tough on the baby, but I think Maya would be fine. I am the one that is having a hard time with it- even though there is some freedom knowing that she will no longer "need" me to eat. KWIM? This parenting stuff is crazy.
Thanks for letting me join you all.

Re: Hi, I'd like to join you girls ~
I'm sorry you're having a tough time. I know for some women pregnancy just dries you up and I'm not sure what you can do to stop it. I think nursing has to be right for both momma and baby so if you can get to one year and want to stop you can still be very proud of the gift you gave Maya. If you have to stop sooner that's ok too, most women bfeed for what...2 weeks?? And formula is not rat poison as some would have us all think.
I can totally relate to her fighting you while nursing. We've been through several rough patches, just developmental stuff, where nursing was a real challenge. But we've conquered all of them, even the awful biting stage. And now that she's learned how to sign to nurse she's like a boob monster all over again. It's crazy how often the nursing relationship changes.
I hope your supply will hold out for you and that Maya will settle back down at the breast. Don't give up without a fight though if it's important to you. You can make it work!

My supply did drop off dramatically at around 5mos or so, but that didn't stop Vivian, she kept on nursing even throughout the colustrum. She loves the comfort as much as the milk.
