Default good advice

i had a ton of problems with latch with my last baby. i ended up with shredded nips and in a ton of pain. took me forever to fix/heal. but was able bf for 16 months.

i'm having another baby in 8 days. what's the best advice anyone has for just getting started and not having nipple problems. i've read and read about positioning....and how maybe to focus the baby's latch on the lower part of the areola and the nipple, sort of placing the nipple on baby's open mouth/lip/tongue, rather than to point the nipple toward the center of the open mouth. it was called the asymetrical latch.

any suggestions or advice?
