Default Frozen ebm

I exclusively nurse except the 3 days per week I work. I pump every morning and during those 3 days I work. I send the fresh ebm for my son and at end up freezing about 35 extra oz per week. The problem is that I now have ebm in my freezer which is nearing 3 months old. Instead of sending fresh stuff for my baby should I be starting to use the older frozen ebm and freezing everything I pump? I don't want to have to throw out all the ebm in my freezer. BTW it is a separate chest freezer.

With my first ds I stopped pumping around 9 months because I was getting nothing. My frozen ebm carried us through until 11 months. So, he only got formula for one month while I worked. Otherwise, I still nursed him nights and weekends. This is why I really, really don't want to have to throw out the ebm in my freezer!

Default Re: Frozen ebm

Given what you've said about last time (quitting at 9mths but still feeding until 11mths) and the fact that you're going to continue to stockpile for now, I would definately use the oldest milk first and freeze what you're pumping now.

I also know that the composition of our breastmilk changes over time and adjust to the changing needs of our babies (as they get older and solids are introduced to their diets etc.), also that the fat content is slightly higher the younger your baby is etc.

If I were you I'd be using up that older store now - BM is liquid gold to babies, it would be a shame to have to dump any of it!

Good Luck!
