Food Question
Hello ladies! I do not post very often, but I have a question and I am hoping you guys might have some ideas for me! I was wondering how I would know if something I was eating was causing problems for my baby. I am thinking possibly caffeine.
I can't get him to sleep at night. He does have reflux, which he has been taking Prevacid for now for the past week. (Zantac didn't work). He is so fussy and restless. He gets almost frantic at the breast like he is starving even though he can't be hungry after cluster feeding for the hour or hours before that. I can tell he is tired but he just doesn't want to or can't go to sleep. I have tried the swing, the bassinet, the car seat and even putting him on his tummy to sleep but nothing worked. I thought maybe it was from my caffeine. I drink 3-4 cans of Dr. Pepper through the day, which I did during my pregnancy too. The part that doesn't make any sense about that is that he will do fine during the day. He falls alseep or gets drowsy after he finishes nursing and I will swaddle him and put him in the swing and he naps just fine. He will also lay on the floor and just look around without fussing but when it is bedtime he flips a switch and completely changes.
Anyway, I am sorry this got to be so long. I just don't know if it is something I should change or maybe he is just colicky and it just hits super late at night? Should I try gripe water or something like that? I hate to give up my pop. I don't drink any coffee, tea or chocolate so that is the only caffeine I have, but I will definitely give it up if it could be the reason my poor baby isn't sleeping. I have to go back to work in about a month so hopefully I can figure out how to get him sleeping by then.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or advice you might have!!!
