Icon6 Driven to Distraction!

This is driving me crazy! I have to know, for those moms who've survived this stage.......how long does the "too distracted to stay on" phase last? And please don't say forever, lol......

Dani is driving me nuts - if I'm nursing anywhere but in the dark in the nursury (which is pretty much all the time during the day), every little sound or movement out of the corner of her eye takes her away from the breast. Seriously, I'm starting to call her princess pop-off - and my nipples are getting freaking sore b/c she doesn't release her grip before she whips her head around. I don't know what to do with her - I've actually been taking the breast away after 3-4 pop-offs ('cuz it hurts) but that's really no solution b/c then she's not nursing and I'll just have to try again in a short time anyway.....

What works or has worked for you?

I don't know anything other than what you are doing. Give her about 4-6 weeks and she won't be so nosey about all the noises around her. In the meantime, keep doing what you are doing.

Have you tried a nursing necklace? It would give her something to focus on.

I go through that with Elias when we're out and about. At home he's pretty good unless one of his favorite shows come on. A nursing necklace, like the OP said can work and keep your baby latched on..they outgrow this soon enough

I think I'll try the nursing necklace....my cousin (a doula) offered to get one for me for when she starts attacking me (scratching, pulling hair etc.) with her free hand - to give that hand something to do. I haven't worried about it too much 'cuz she's pretty happy playing with a finger of mine right now. But I never thought of it as a focus item. I'm going to try it ASAP.

Thanks for the idea!
(Oh, and I had a few minutes success by throwing a blankie over her head today, lol)

We're going through it too. Between that and the scratching he does, nursing's just lots of fun right now!

I'm after a nursing necklace too.

Hope the nursing necklace does the trick. Neither of my boys cared about one.
