Default domperidone?

How come my doctor won't write a RX for domperidone? Is it not approved by the fda for breastfeeding? I see that I can get it from canada but dh doesn't t hink I should take it if my doctor won't perscribe it.

opinions?

I definitly have a supply issue. I'm currently on reglan, it is working, when I go off of reglan I notice a definite decrease in milk so I have like 4 days left of reglan then I'll be out and I dont want to take it any loner. I've been on it for 25 non consecutive days. My son is 10 weeks old. I want to nurse til 6 months at least. Thanks Heather

If you want my details pm me as I don't have the energy to write it all out here.

No it's not FDA approved.

Yes it is a very safe drug.

You can get it very quickly from NZ, I've taken it for a long time with no problems.

Oh, I thought I should add, 10 weeks is when my supply hit an all time low and Addi quit nursing, b/c nothing was coming out.

I tried Reglan and had a bad reaction, switched to domperidone and we've been happily nursing exclusively since then. She's 7 months and a week now and I see no reason why I can't continue till she's at least a year old.

Also, to see the best supply increase you should consider pumping. Particularly if your baby sleeps all night you can add a middle of the night pumping session to give yourself a boost. It's also a great way to build a freezer stash. I actually had to quit pumping a few weeks ago b/c I've filled my deep freeze.

I just really believe in that drug, it was a miracle for us.

i've not taken it personally, but wasblessed with a supply that reacted well to herbal galactogogues and never had to use an rx. i did have multiple clients though that have stories and outcomies similar to kenda, though i did have a few clients who had only minimal problems on the reglan.

if it were me, i would much rather use dopmperidone as it works well without the side effects typically associated with reglan.
