Not me, no......I was born during the height of the "formula push" years......my mother was actually given pills to dry up her milk faster and provided formula for me in the hospital

BUT.......I did get to see her successfully BF both of my brothers (born 10 and 12 years later).....I think she only did 6 mths with them, until she returned to work, but she expressed milk for them long after than......she was amazing! She could hand-express a full bottle in just a few minutes!!! From seeing her, it never occurred to me NOT to BF my babies

Nope. She just told me that she was amazed at me for sticking with it.

Yep, my brother and I both, for 7-8 months each.

Nope. I was also born in the height of the "formula push" years. My mother was told she didn't have enough milk so she didn't even try. Neither me nor my sister born almost 4 yrs later were breastfed. Nobody I knew while growing up nursed their babies, only hippies and poor people did that

my mom bf me for several momths, until after she had gall bladder surgery. she said i was a stinker and when i would nurse, i would dig my toes around where her incision was (this was 30 years ago, so the gall bladder surgery was still the cut from rib across the abdomen to the hip).

No, she was told she "couldn't". When I had problems getting my baby to breastfeed Mom and I have started talking about it more. Alex and I are bf'ing successfully now and I told Mom I couldn't do it without all the support from the nurses and my loved ones, nor without the electric pump the hospital leant me until I could rent one. Mom said back then they didn't have access to such a thing - meanwhile by using the pump I was able to cup and syringe feed colostrum even before Alex would accept the breast regularly. I am sure if we didn't have that available I would've given up.
