Re: did your mom bf you?
Not me, no......I was born during the height of the "formula push" years......my mother was actually given pills to dry up her milk faster and provided formula for me in the hospital
BUT.......I did get to see her successfully BF both of my brothers (born 10 and 12 years later).....I think she only did 6 mths with them, until she returned to work, but she expressed milk for them long after than......she was amazing! She could hand-express a full bottle in just a few minutes!!! From seeing her, it never occurred to me NOT to BF my babies

Re: did your mom bf you?
Nope. She just told me that she was amazed at me for sticking with it.

Re: did your mom bf you?
Nope. I was also born in the height of the "formula push" years. My mother was told she didn't have enough milk so she didn't even try. Neither me nor my sister born almost 4 yrs later were breastfed. Nobody I knew while growing up nursed their babies, only hippies and poor people did that

my mom bf me for several momths, until after she had gall bladder surgery. she said i was a stinker and when i would nurse, i would dig my toes around where her incision was (this was 30 years ago, so the gall bladder surgery was still the cut from rib across the abdomen to the hip).

Re: did your mom bf you?
No, she was told she "couldn't". When I had problems getting my baby to breastfeed Mom and I have started talking about it more. Alex and I are bf'ing successfully now and I told Mom I couldn't do it without all the support from the nurses and my loved ones, nor without the electric pump the hospital leant me until I could rent one. Mom said back then they didn't have access to such a thing - meanwhile by using the pump I was able to cup and syringe feed colostrum even before Alex would accept the breast regularly. I am sure if we didn't have that available I would've given up.

Re: did your mom bf you?
I was BFd for somewhere between 13-15 months and my brother about the same time. DH was breastfed for *insert amazement here* 3 years in the early 80s. I have to say I've got more support with DD than I ever imagined I would have.

Re: did your mom bf you?
Mom breastfed me until 6 weeks old when she got an infection and they put her on stuff she couldn't take while doing it. She was 20 years old and the only one she knew who breastfed at the time and it was 1975. My bro was born in 1980 and she breastfed him for 2 years.
I guess my dad's mom breastfed all her kids; my dad the butt first breech, my uncle and aunt the twin surprises 4 years later, and the biggest surprise my aunt 10 years after that. The first kid she breastfed in 1949 and the last was 1964... as a staunch conservative!

Re: did your mom bf you?
Unfortunately no. None of us were breastfed. I am the first generation to breastfeed since my grandmother.

Re: did your mom bf you?
My mom tried with all of us, but didn't get to very long. I was (I think) 6 weeks, and my brothers were 4 weeks and 8 weeks. She was very excited when she was able to breastfeed my baby sister for 6 months.

Re: did your mom bf you?
No she didn't at all. In fact because she didn't it is one of the main reasons I really wanted to breastfeed my kids.

I was BFed for close to a year. I am lucky in that every woman in my family and extended family has BFed.
