Default Cow's milk and BF babies

So since Rob is now one, and he's had absolutely no problems with dairy in either his diet or mine, we're introducing "moo cow" milk in a sippy cup.

We noticed that he seems to be doing the same thing my daughter did with cow's milk- he'll take a few sips, put down the cup, and look at us like , "Are you guys nuts?!"

It's definitely not the cup, he guzzles water in it, and he hasn't had anything in a bottle for at least 5 months or so.

I'm thinking it's because he can tell it's some kind of milk, and it puzzles him because it tastes different, is cold, and is not coming straight from the tap!!!!

He's getting plenty of mommy milk and is unstoppable with the solids, so I'm not at all worried, just interested that he seems to be having the same reaction as his sister who was also still breastfeeding lots at this age. Katie still isn't a fan of plain cow's milk...she much prefers yogurt, cheese etc.

Anyone else noticed this type of response to cow's milk in their BF kids?!

I can't get Vivian to drink cow milk at all. She does just like your son, takes a sip or two and puts the cup down and looks at me funny. She eats cheese and ice cream but no milk. Both DH and I hated milk when we were kids (and we were both formula fed) so I'm not too surprised and I certainly can't blame her!

That's funny

I know a few other mom's who've posted clips of their little one's first taste and they usually make a funny face and spit it

I don't really remember my boys' reactions.....it was so long ago - they're both big milk drinkers now though and love it. Dani's still a few months away from her first taste so we'll see

Yup. He didn't buy it. So now every morning he gets a little "moo-cow" milk in a cup on his tray to pitch on the floor.

The kid eats yogurt and cheese (and mommy milk!) like it's going out of style so I'm not concerned. As my old ped said about this issue regarding my daughter, there's nothing magic about cow's milk!

Try combining mommy milk and cow's milk. That worked for my first. We just kept weighting the ratio to cow's milk until it was 100%. I think she hardly noticed.
