Default Breastfeeding & pacifiers

Hi, I have been lurking for the past 4 weeks and now have a question, actually two.

1. I think I remember reading that you should wait 6 weeks before giving a pacifier. Is this true? And are there any that are better for bf'd babies? DS#1 only had one for a month, and can't remember what kind.

2. When do they start to feed more on a schedule? Aidan just isn't consistent with when he is hungry. sometimes it can be 3 hours and other times it can be 1.5 hours.

Thanks!!

Lauren!
How the heck are ya!!?? WHY did I not know you were in NJ?

Ok.. anyway.. I don't know about one pacifier being better than another, but I did read that you're supposed to wait until breastfeeding is established before offering any artificial nipples.

As far as scheduling, Matthew was all over the place (still is) and would nurse, then nurse 30 minutes later.. then again 3 hrs later.. then an hr later... really scattered. He started to fall into a night time pattern where he'd wake around the same time to nurse when he was around 3 or 4 months. All babies are different, just keep feeding him on demand and he'll be fine.

It's good to 'see' you! Are you on AIM? Terry Lynn and I chat all the time, but I never see any other Spermie Snatchers. BTW did you know TL is due with her 4th on 8/22?

Teri--how great to hear from you. I too check over to see if there are any other Spermie's but never see any posts. I do remember that Terry is having another one, does she know what she is having??

Thanks for the response about the scheduling and the pacifiers. Aidan is pretty good with nursing now, we have no problems and he latches himself well. Maybe I will give the pacifier a try this week, he seems to like to suck.
It's funny but ever since I posted this post he seems to be eating on a schedule during the day, but still varies at night.

I will PM yuou my AIM id. I am not on very much, but now knowing you guys are on frequently I will try to get on.
