a new med/mother's milk comes out every couple of years with more and more info.

kara has nailed this info so perfectly for you noah'smommy hope you get rid of your migraines soon. have you figured out is you have any food triggers for them? also, have you tried chiro adjustments?

as for the meds, percocet, tylenol 3, vicodin, etc. (depending on the doc usually) are what are prescribed very often after a mom delivers, so yeah- they're fine for nursing with. phenergan is a pretty safe med also, but like kara said, don't overuse, or it could impact supply.

also, there is a supplement out called (and i know i'm gonna spell this wrong, cuz i havent bought it in awhile) petadolex. it is a migraine preventative. worked for dh when he remembered to take it at least most days of the week. you may want to look into that as well.

oh, and you should be able to get a copy of hale's book through your local lll catalog. if you're a member of lll, you'll get a discount as well when purchasing it.

Thanks for your continued help.

I have been trying to figure out my triggers for years. I know bright light is one... like being out in the sun for a while. The other is caffeine. I am SOOO sensitive to it. If I have it I am jittery and feel funny, but if I don't I risk a headache like no tomorrow. Not to mention I only try to have tiny bit due to nursing - don't want a cranky baby too!

I will KUP on what the doctor says... I can't wait for some relief!

Mama Bear, thanks for the info on the petadolex. I'll have to look into that. Today is day #2 of a continuing migraine for me ...

Noah'sMommy, you might definitely look into allergies as a trigger. If found out that my seasonal allergies were a definite cause of migraines for me (as well as hormones and lack of caffeine) when I went for allergy shots a few years ago. Every time they upped the dose I would end up in the ER about 12hrs later with an excruciating migraine. I decided to just keep taking antihistamines.

Never thought of the allergies... I do have terrible dust allergies and seasonal ones as well. I have not been taking any meds since becoming PG this time... maybe I need to get back on them!

Well.........Here is my update. I have to see a neurologist! The OBGYN said he did not want to make assumptions about my headaches and just give me a script. He wants a complete work up done so I can get the proper meds and to figure out (possibly) what causes my headaches! I guess that makes sense, but not what I was expecting to hear.

hope you get some answers mama. :hug

dh has seen the neurologist here multiple times, and both him and his pa are incompetant ***** imo. if they'd stick just to the basics they'd be fine, but their practice also does botox and other "plastic surgeyr" ish crap.
