Icon5 BFing as Birth Control

I've been reading about how breastfeeding works as birth control provided the mother exclusively breastfeeds and AF has not returned yet. Most articles I've read say that "exclusively breastfeeding" means no formula supplements (that makes sense obviously) but also no pacifiers.

I give Dylan a pacifier only when he's fussy, not when he's hungry. Mainly at night when he's just cranky... at that point he's got a fully belly and is just using the breast as a pacifer (he pulls on and off, smacks his lips, and my nipples can't take that kind of abuse!)

Am I being overly paranoid, or should I consider this occasional use of a pacifier an issue if I'm trying to use BFing as birth control?
