Argh...not pumping enough...
I feel like I should know how to pump, since I pumped for DD for 9 months not too long ago. I was easily able to pump enough for her for 6 months and then had to supplement with formula for 3 months. After that, she nursed for another 4 months but I didn't continue to pump.
I return to work tomorrow; DS is 9 weeks old. He went to daycare today and ate almost 20 oz of EBM and 3 oz of formula (I sent the formula as emergency backup, never imagining he'd eat that much!) I pumped while he was gone today 3x and pumped 13 oz, so I'm obviously not pumping near enough for him already. I'll try to pump one more time tonight, but even if I get as much as I normally do, I'll only add another 3-4 oz to that total. Plus, he tends to cluster feed in the evenings, so I can't imagine I'll be able to pump much. I hate to supplement with formula on a regular basis already, but I can't expect daycare to deal with a hungry baby.
Do you think he'll reverse cycle for me a bit as we establish a routine? Any other helpful hints or thoughts on my situation? I hate to take any supply enhancers, as it seems I still have overactive-letdown/endless supply when he nurses...I'm just not as productive when pumping this time.
Thanks,
Amy
