Re: anyone heard of reglan?
I took Reglan when my older son was about 10 weeks old. I completely lost my milk supply after a high fever bout with mastitis. Reglan saved our nursing relationship. My LC had my OB prescribe a 10 day course and it did wonders for me. I was one of the lucky ones who had no side effects other than a little sleepiness, but I have had friends who took it and had terrible side effects like anxiety and depression. I think that if you have had any depressive issues at all, you are not supposed to take Reglan.
That being said, it sounds like you are not in need of Reglan. I agree with the other ladies that this is the natural course of nursing. Demand from the baby (fussing at the breast, "dry" nursing, more frequent nursing) is answered by an increased supply from you. If you "top off" the baby with a bottle, you are short circuiting that entire process and not allowing your milk supply to increase with the baby's needs. Please, no more bottles for now. Nurse, nurse, nurse. Lots of cuddling and skin to skin contact with the baby are imortant, too. Good luck!
